LOADS OF FUN

The Margaret Murray School Of Irish Dancing was founded by Margaret Murray in 2002.
Margaret, in her own right a championship winning dancer and a very well respected teacher, graduated TCRG in 2003.
The School is proud to be a member of Comhdhail Muinteoiri Na Rinci Gaelacha (The congress of Irish Dance Teachers) with Feiseanna being held all over Mainland Britain, Northern and Southern Ireland and indeed the World.
Dancers start off by learning basic reels and jigs using soft shoes or "PUMPS", then progress to more complex dance steps using both soft and hard shoes or "HEAVY'S".
The School participates in the Feiseanna run by the An Comhdhail throughout the year, at the Feis dancers will enjoy meeting and dancing with children from both the U.K and abroad.
The Margaret Murray School of Irish Dancing caters for children from the ages of 4 to 18 and is committed to the preservation of the art of Irish Dancing and to the promotion of health and fitness of the children dancing within our school.

Duct Tape- Why we use it
Duct tape is used for sealing the joints in Plastic guttering or Ducts, hence the name. It is a strong thick heavy duty Cloth tape with strong adhesive, and when applied to the taps and heels of heavy shoes provides an element of grip. We prefer to use Carpet binding tape. It is similar, but tears more easily and can be bought in black rather than the usual silvery colour of Duct tape. It is also cheaper!
Dance Injury
This is an important subject and is not to be taken lightly. A who page will be dedicate to this subject. Stay tuned for more.

Magic Wands
The best way to get those lovely Curls that you all love so much. Throughout the years many dancers will remember having to endure having rags and curlers put in there hair, now things have changed and a new device called the magic wand has appeared on the scene. These are available at most Feis stalls and online.
Shoe Choice
Whilst there may be many different types of dancing shoes on the market, it is firstly very important that you find the shoe that is comfortable and offers the best support for your arch and toes. It doesn't matter what the rest of your class mates wear, take advice from your teacher and shop around for the best fit. This also applies to heavy shoes, they must be robust and hard wearing for the punishment you are going to put them through. There are also differnt types of "TIPS" and "HEELS" to chose from so whats going to get you heard is whats in fashion now. Just make sure you look after your feet!.
